2019 National HIV Prevention Inventory Survey Report

Last Updated

NASTAD is pleased to announce the release of the 2019 National HIV Prevention Inventory (NHPI) Survey Report. The NHPI presents a comprehensive depiction of the current state of HIV prevention throughout the United States. In 2009, NASTAD and the Kaiser Family Foundation instituted the first iteration of the NHPI to better understand HIV prevention programs/services delivered through CDC-funded health departments. NASTAD completed the next iteration of the NHPI from 2012 – 2014, providing analysis on longitudinal HIV prevention trends.

The current iteration of the NHPI collected data from 2017 – 2018, a key point in time in which funding for CDC's Comprehensive HIV Prevention Programs for Health Departments funding opportunity (PS12-1201) ended, and health departments began implementing programming under the new Integrated HIV Surveillance and Prevention Programs for Health Departments funding opportunity (PS18-1802). The 2019 survey report provides a unique opportunity to explore the continued development of health department HIV programs, showcase progress achieved nationally by health departments through PS12-1201, as well as the projected initiatives, innovations, and challenges of PS18-1802 that shape health department HIV prevention programming through 2022.
