Health Care Systems

overview

With the advent of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), health department HIV and viral hepatitis programs are adapting to ensure that the current models of care, provider expertise, and public health functions are integrated into reforms. NASTAD assists health departments in preparing their programs in many areas including: evaluating the insurance landscape; assessing coverage and affordability gap, including the comprehensiveness of drug formularies; ensuring  the infrastructure to assist clients in affording new insurance; understanding the interaction of Ryan White Program rules with ACA reforms and preparing systems and contractors for third party billing. NASTAD also leads federal efforts to ensure coverage options are implemented.
