HIV Prevalence

NASTAD and the National STI/HIV/AIDS Program in El Salvador are working to strengthen their current HIV case reporting and patient monitoring electronic system, SUMEVE, through systems integration with the national laboratory and implementation of data quality monitoring and improvement strategies. NASTAD is also working closely with the national program to improve the quality of their data analysis and reports and to incorporate health equity into their surveillance infrastructure.

In February 2018, NASTAD held a key populations sensitization workshop with participants from El Salvador’s National STI/HIV/AIDS Program and community health navigators in San Salvador. The objectives of the workshop were to create a space for discussions around prejudices, stigma, and discrimination in the workplace and how understand how these impact HIV care and information gathering.
