Restoring Federal Emergency Relief Funding for HIV/AIDS Programs

By Emily McCloskey March 26, 2013

The HIV/AIDS community is organizing a sign-on letter to the President urging him to immediately redirect $35 million to the state AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAPs) and $10 million to Ryan White Part C programs in FY2013 in order to ensure continuation of care and treatment for thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS.  This funding was not included in the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013, a continuing resolution (CR) that will fund the federal government for the rest of FY2013.

This letter is open to both individual and organizational sign-ons. If you or your organization would like to sign-on please click on the link here. The deadline for sign-on is the end of the day (COB) Monday, April 1. Please share this action alert with your networks and communities.

This portion of ADAP emergency funding is currently awarded to 14 states and one territory (AL, AK, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MT, NE, NJ, SD, TN, WA, WI, VI).  However, all states currently receiving ADAP Emergency Relief Funding (ERF) could potentially see reductions in funding if a transfer is not made.

NASTAD will continue to provide updates on this matter as developments unfold. If you have questions, please contact Ann Lefert or Emily McCloskey.
