2018 ADAP Insurance Cost-Effectiveness Tool

NASTAD is pleased to release our ADAP Insurance Cost-Effectiveness Tool and accompanying user’s guide for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) 2018 open enrollment period. This tool is designed to assist ADAPs in assessing the relative cost-effectiveness of insurance plans. Following the release of detailed formulary data for insurance plans offered through the Federally Facilitated Marketplaces (FFMs), the tool estimates the average costs of a year of treatment using an average of the prices of the six Single-Tablet Regimens (STRs).  The tool provides comprehensive formulary tiering data for all anti-retroviral treatments. For states operating their own Marketplaces, the tool allows states to manually enter data to estimate the relative cost-effectiveness of plans.

Note: Several states did not have formulary data publicly available for inclusion in the formulary assessment portion of this tool.

  • States without formulary data for much or all plans: Arizona and Nebraska.

ADAPs in these states may choose to: (1) continue to use the tool to only assess cost-effectiveness of FFM plans; and (2) conduct your own plan formulary analysis separately.  The tool will be updated here as additional data become available.
