Northern Cape Province NGO Audit: Capacity-building Assessment

In July 2008, NASTAD South Africa published an assessment of the organizational capacity for ten local community-based organizations in Northern Cape Province. As part of the twinning partnership with the Illinois Department of Public, NASTAD supported the development of an assessment tool and the survey of ten organizations as identified by the Northern Cape Department of Health.

NASTAD developed this epidemiological profile, the first of its kind in Haiti, in collaboration with the Haitian Ministry of Health. The profile was developed to illustrate the socio-demographic and risk factors of the population of four departments located in the southern region of Haiti.

Developing a PLWHA Network in Partnership with Government: A Toolkit

The NASTAD South Africa program supported the establishment and development of a PLWHA consumer network, MANEPHA, in the Eastern cape Province. In collaboration with MANEPHA and our country partners, NASTAD developed a toolkit to assist governments, both regional and national, on how to establish and support a consumer network.

DMSAC Evidence Based Planning Toolkit

This Toolkit, prepared by NASTAD in March 2008, has been designed to provide guidance to Botswana's District AIDS Coordinator (DAC), District Multi-Sectoral AIDS Committee (DMSAC) Chairs, and the DMSAC Planning Subcommittee members for developing their district’s annual DMSAC Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Plan. It outlines a suggested work plan for the DAC and the Planning Subcommittee to follow, using an evidence-based planning approach.

Support Group Facilitation Baseline Survey: South Africa

In February and March 2008, a baseline survey was conducted in the Northern Cape, Free State, and Eastern Cape Provinces of South Africa to capture the work of HIV support group leaders, including their successes, challenges, and training needs. After the survey was administered, a follow-up discussion session was conducted in four sites across the three provinces to collect additional information and provide a more comprehensive context for the support groups.
