National Stakeholders Collaborative
NASTAD collaborates with the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs
(AMCHP), the National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), and the Society of
State Directors of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (SSDHPER) to offer
national meetings with the goal of strengthening communication and
collaboration between State Departments of Education and Health to support and
improve HIV, STD, unintended teen pregnancy prevention in schools.

Youth of Color Initiative
Information sharing and TA around health department efforts to support
prevention targeting youth of color (YOC), particularly African American and
Latino youth. Emphasis placed on supporting health department efforts to
enhance linkages with community-based agencies and other relevant stakeholders
to develop and administer effective HIV programs and policies for youth of
color. Developing an issue brief series that will broadly examine factors
impacting the disproportionate infection rate among YOC and describe health
department programs and recommendations for addressing the issue.

Peer-Based Technical Assistance
The Youth Prevention Program at NASTAD facilitates ongoing peer-to-peer TA in
many areas related to HIV/AIDS prevention for youth. A major strength of this
program is the ability to provide access to innovative youth prevention models
and facilitate information exchange between health departments and relevant
stakeholders to increase health department capacity to administer effective
youth prevention programs.
