Program Updates Prevention CDC Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) Annual Meeting The CDC Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP) Behavioral and Clinical Surveillance Branch convened the annual meeting for the Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) in Atlanta, Georgia, October 16 – 18. The Medical Monitoring Project (MMP) is a surveillance project designed to learn more about the experiences and needs of people who are receiving care for HIV. The meeting brings together the project’s principle investigators, program coordinators, provider advisory board (PAB) and consumer advisory board (CAB) members from the health departments funded for MMP to get project updates, share best practices and provide feedback regarding future directions. Since 2009, CDC has been able to provide national estimates based upon the data collected through 23 funded sites. With retention in care and viral suppression critical to the success of HIV prevention efforts, this year, two Institute of Medicine (IOM) reports have included MMP data, Monitoring HIV Care in the United States: A Strategy for Generating National Estimates of HIV Care and Coverage published in October and Monitoring HIV Care in the United States: Indicators and Data Systems published in March.
