| Program News Save the Date! The NASTAD Annual Meeting will take place May 20-23, 2012 in Washington, D.C. Additional information and the formal member invitation will be sent in the coming months. Health Care Access NASTAD Health Department and Community Health Center Collaborations Report NASTAD recently released Exploring HIV/AIDS and Viral Hepatitis Health Department and Community Health Center Collaborations, a report detailing HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis program collaborations between health departments (HDs) and community health centers (CHCs). Potential next steps identified in the report include creating a series of webinars and fact sheets focused on CHCs, profiles of "models of excellence," population specific services and system obstacles (e.g., reimbursement, care coordination, data sharing, etc.). Additionally, NASTAD is considering supporting the organization of regional or statewide meetings between CHCs and HDs to identify unique opportunities for collaboration. NASTAD will continue to monitor the progress of collaborations between HDs and CHCs in order to develop future technical assistance opportunities for HDs. Please contact Christopher Cannon if you have questions. back to top > Health Equity Register your Awareness Day Events Several AIDS awareness days are coming up in February and March. Health departments can access campaign materials on the event webpages.

A ballot for two additional vacancies was distributed to members in late January (results forthcoming). In member changes, Mike Herbert is now with the Missouri Center for Emergency Planning and Terrorism and Cherri Baysinger is the interim Chief of the Bureau of HIV, STD, and Hepatitis. Dan Olsen is now the HIV/AIDS Program Manager in the Nevada State Health Division and Donna Mombourquette is the new Chief of the HIV/STD/Hepatitis/TB/Infectious Disease Section in the New Hampshire Division of Public Health. In Vermont, Michelle Force moved to a position outside of the HIV/AIDS program and reports that her position will not likely be refilled due to cuts in HIV prevention funding from CDC.
