Awards

NASTAD gives special recognition and honors upon outstanding leaders in the fight against the HIV/AIDS. NASTAD awards include the Nicholas A. Rango Leadership Award and the NASTAD Service Award, given for outstanding leadership and service to the organization. NASTAD also periodically recognizes individuals from media, foundations, research institutions, federal agencies, partner organizations, and governmental representatives who have supported the mission and goals of NASTAD.

Rango Award
The Nicholas A. Rango, MD Leadership Award(Rango Award), given each year during NASTAD’s Annual Meeting, is named for one of NASTAD’s founding members, Dr. Nicholas Rango, director of the New York State AIDS Institute before his death from AIDS in 1993. To honor Dr. Rango’s spirit and work, NASTAD recognizes the AIDS director or state and territorial health department staff member who best exemplifies Dr. Rango’s qualities of superior intelligence, dedication, activism in government, and passion in leading the fight against HIV/AIDS.
